National media takes note of Emergency Protection Order to protect Greater Sage-Grouse

In an unprecedented move, the federal government announced yesterday it would introduce an Emergency Protection Order to help save the prairie-dwelling Greater Sage-Grouse species of bird.

Since 2008, Nature Canada experts have actively engaged in public and private consultations on conservation and recovery of the Greater Sage-Grouse, so this news comes as a welcomed development of this issue. For the full press release, see our website.

Canadian media sat up and took notice of Minister Aglukkaq’s announcement, which marks the first time that this specific provision in the Species at Risk Act has been used.
