This week I am in Waskaganish with partners from the Cree Nation of Waskaganish, the Cree Regional Authority and Nature Quebec to do preliminary surveys on shorebirds along Rupert Bay. this is part of work funded by Environment Canada's Aboriginal Fund for Species at Risk, and also work that will help see parts or all of Rupert Bay recognized as an Important Bird Area. Today 30 White Pelicans flew over our boat. Tomorrow we hope to see roosting sites for many shorebirds including Hudsonian and Marbled Godwit and Red Knot. Here are a few images.
